Amanda Speights
DHSc, OTR/L
Dr. Speights is a dedicated occupational therapy practitioner with a post-professional doctorate degree in health science (DHSc). Her clinical experience includes over 12 years of working with the pediatric and adult populations in school-based, hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, home, outpatient, Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC), and telehealth settings. Her treatment approach is integrative and guided by theories of neurodevelopment, sensory integration, cognitive-behavioral, and occupation-based coaching. She believes in a collaborative approach to working with clients to facilitate empowerment and lasting outcomes. In addition, she is level 2 certified to provide reiki, a bioenergy field modality, as a complementary treatment.
Working with OT students renews her passion for the profession, which is why she continues to serve as a clinical/fieldwork Educator, subject matter expert (SME) on pediatric and school-based practice content, and guest lecturer for professional OT continuing education, master and doctorate-level Occupational Therapy courses. As an appointed member of the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators (RAE) for the 2020-2023 term, I assist with the evaluation of the compliance of more than 500 occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs with ACOTE Accreditation Standards through on-site evaluations and online reviews.
